Remember that Red Bird jewellery giveaway I blogged about last month? I didn’t win the lovely necklace (now named Bird on a Wire) but I loved it so much I asked Becky from Red Bird Jewellery to make me a copy. It arrived in the post yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. Receiving something that’s been wrapped up perfectly (a little red box and tied with string. I wanted to take pictures, but the light was rubbish and I wanted to see my necklace too much. I’m easily excitable.) adds to the specialness and the necklace itself is brilliant. The perfect length, lovely colours and a great design makes this a piece of jewellery I’ll be wearing with a lots of things in the future.

When I was little and living in Bristol, once or twice a year mum and I would take the bus to Bath for a day trip. There are two things I remember from these trips; the first was a shop called Confetti, that was basically a giant Pick n Mix counter, where we would come away with a huge bag of the foam prawns and bananas and the other place I remember going into was Clothkits.

Ma made an awful lot of Clothkits clothes. They were bright, not too girly or boyish, had great prints and were easier to put together than making your own clothes from scratch (which mum also did very often. I spent many, many hours in John Lewis while Ma decided on the perfect pattern and then the perfect fabric and then all the perfect trimmings to make some dresses for me and my sisters). I especially remember the quilted jacket that was made for me and I wore all the time.*

I’ve just discovered that Clothkits is back, and they’ve been back for well over a year now. How did I not notice this before? It’s lovely to see them again and good to see that the style of the old designs remain intact. They even have the quilted jacket I loved so much as a child and these wonderful lion dungerees:

It makes me wish for a child so I can dress them up!

Adults are now catered for too with some lovely skirts. This Magic Tree skirt costs £35:

There’s also a fine selection of fabrics, buttons, bag kits and some lovely other things. These buttons made me smile an awful lot:

You can visit the Clothkits site by clicking here.

*although thinking about it now, I’ve got a feeling it was my sisters who wore the quilted jacket, not me. Silly brain!
